What was the main reason why your company needed outside H&S help?

Navigating the multitude of H&S guidance can be extremely time consuming and ultimately, quite confusing. Having an expert on hand makes this much easier.

Ultimately, it is a lot better use of our time to focus on our customers and products, and bring in outside expertise to ensure we are doing H&S correctly.

How did HSM ‘jump in’ and grasp your issues?

HSM came to site and visited, assisting in drawing up action plans and identifying key areas of improvement.

From the very first meeting, HSM brought in guidance for best practice, and practicable steps that we could implement that very week in fire safety, warehouse safety and general H&S.

Share an extract of how you engage with HSM ongoing? 

HSM are very low maintenance, on hand if we need them, and ensuring they inform us of any relevant updates or upcoming issues we need to be aware of.

For example recently we’ve ‘naturalised’ risk assessments into everything we do, making them second nature, this change in attitude as we’ve grown has been supported fully by HSM – who are at the end of a phone call or email.

If you were recommending HSM to a contemporary: What aspect would you highlight about HSM ?

Put simply: Ease of use.

They put H&S into plain English and attitudes, procedures, training and policies that make sense. This together with the willingness to be at the end of a phone makes them indispensable.

A very traditional company where you can pick up the phone and have a practical, honest conversation to come to the best workable practical result.

It is rare these days to find a company that is willing to take calls and be our outsourced, but almost in-house, H&S partner agency.
